These past months have been a challenge for us all, and we hope you have found ways to stay healthy and safe, and to take care of yourself as well as your family, friends, and community. The Virginia Center for the Book has suspended onsite public programs since March and will continue that approach for now. We simply cannot justify putting anyone at risk, given the evolving public health outlook. With that in mind, we are writing to you today to update you on your Book Arts membership and ways to take part in upcoming projects and events.

In a typical summer, you hear from us with a reminder to join or renew your Book Arts membership. This year, however, we will extend privileges for all current members for a complimentary year, to June 2021.We know that you are likely already juggling a lot, so you don’t need to do anything to extend your membership. We’ve taken care of it.

Of course, we hope that you’ll find ways to stay involved with Book Arts while our studio remains closed to the public. Though we plan to offer in-person classes and workshops again when the public health situation is under control, for now we hope you’ll:

• Share your work as part of the Quaranta Art Project
Take part in our virtual events (more will be announced soon!)
CLICK HERE to watch past events you might have missed
Keep in touch on our main Facebook page as well as our Book Arts groupTwitter, and Instagram
Let us know if you’d like to schedule time for private use of our Book Arts studio, with access to our equipment (proper cleaning and density management are in place; all use must be scheduled in advance)

In closing, thank you for your ongoing support of Book Arts at the Virginia Center for the Book, and stay safe!
